Joe Cornish was born in Exeter in 1958 and studied art at Reading University, graduating in 1980 and working as a photographic assistant for four years in London and Washington DC.His early travel and landscape photography was accepted into Charlie Waite’s photolibrary, Landscape Only, in 1986. In the following nine years, he contributed to more than 30 travel books.
Joe moved to North Yorkshire in 1993. He started Joegraphic with his friends Joni and Joe Essex in 1999, publishing cards and calendars, and launched the Joe Cornish Gallery in Northallerton in 2004.
Books continue to be at the heart of his work, including First Light: A Landscape Photographer’s Art; Scotland’s Coast; Urbino, a rare departure into architectural photography; Roseberry Topping, a collaboration with Great Ayton Community Archaeology Group; and Joe Cornish: A Photographer At Work, a unique record of his working methods and philosophy.
